1Product Basics
What the panels are, what they’re made from and how much they cover.
What are Tritan BP faux stone panels made from?
Our panels are moulded from high-density polyurethane and individually hand-finished with UV-protected, water-based pigments. The material is lightweight yet rigid — a Lightning Ridge™ panel weighs only about 3.6 kg — so it handles far more easily than clay slips, concrete or natural stone. Because it’s a closed, moulded polymer rather than a printed board, it carries deep 3D texture that reads as real stacked stone.
Do the panels actually look like real stone?
The moulds are taken from real stone and every panel is hand-finished, so colour and texture vary naturally instead of repeating across the wall. On Lightning Ridge™, tongue-and-groove edges hide the joints so the panels read as one continuous surface. The honest test is a sample in your own light — most people can’t tell it isn’t stone until they touch it.
Why do the panels vary in colour from piece to piece?
The variation is deliberate. Each panel is hand-finished by an artisan rather than printed by machine, so tones shift slightly the way natural stone does. For the most authentic result we recommend opening several boxes at once and blending panels as you install, rather than fitting one box fully before opening the next.
How durable are the panels day to day?
The high-density polyurethane is strong enough to shrug off everyday knocks and won’t rot, warp or crack the way some materials can. It’s non-porous, so it doesn’t absorb water, and the pigments have built-in UV inhibitors. It is a decorative wall covering rather than a structural or load-bearing material.
What colours are available?
Our stone panels come in a range of hand-finished colours including Nature’s Spirit, Grey Fox and Moonlight Grey, with further tones such as Cappuccino, Biscotti Tan, Coconut White and Oyster Grey across the stone, brick and accessory lines — and we’re regularly adding new colours. For the current range, browse the faux stone, faux brick and faux concrete collections. Matching Touch Up Kits are available, and a sample is the best way to check any colour in your own lighting.
Can I paint the panels a custom colour?
The panels arrive fully pre-finished, so most customers never need to. If you want a bespoke colour, they can be over-painted with a good-quality exterior acrylic. Always test on an offcut or a discreet area first to confirm the finish you want.
What size is each panel and how much does it cover?
A Lightning Ridge™ panel measures 120 × 60 cm and covers approximately 0.68 m² (7.3 sq ft) once installed, allowing for the tongue-and-groove overlap. A Stick‑A‑Stone™ box contains 8 panels (each 35 × 21.6 cm), covers approximately 0.5 m² (5.36 sq ft) and weighs about 1.8 kg.
2Fire Safety
Independently tested to EN 13501-1 and classified B-s1, d0 — here’s what that means in practice.
What is the fire classification of Tritan BP panels?
Our Lightning Ridge™ and Stick‑A‑Stone™ panels are independently tested to EN 13501-1 — the European standard for reaction to fire of construction products — and classified B-s1, d0 (tested by SGS). In plain English: B means a very limited contribution to fire, s1 means very little smoke (the best of the three smoke bands), and d0 means no flaming droplets or particles within the test period. Our faux brick and concrete panels are manufactured from the same high-density polyurethane, though the classification itself applies to the tested stone panels — contact us for the latest fire performance information on any specific product. Fire test documentation is available on request.
What does B-s1, d0 mean for my UK project in practice?
Approved Document B bases its guidance on internal wall and ceiling linings on the BS EN 13501-1 Euroclass system, and B-s1, d0 is a strong reaction-to-fire classification suitable for internal wall linings in most UK rooms. It is the best-performing of the combustible classes. It is not classed as non-combustible — only Euroclass A1/A2 materials are — and the panels are not fireproof. If your building control officer, surveyor or insurer specifically requires a non-combustible (A1/A2) material, these panels should not be used there. See our fire safety guide for the full explanation.
Can I use the panels around a fireplace or up a chimney breast?
Yes — fireplace surrounds and chimney breasts are one of the most popular uses, and the B-s1, d0 classification is a genuine reassurance there. The panels must never be installed inside the firebox or anywhere they could be exposed to temperatures above roughly 175°C (350°F), which could cause them to expand. Always keep them clear of direct flame and follow the appliance manufacturer’s required clearances and UK building regulations.
Can I fit panels behind a wood burner or stove?
In most applications yes, provided you stay within the same temperature limit (around 175°C / 350°F) and observe the stove manufacturer’s clearances to combustible materials. Where the appliance manufacturer or building control requires a certified non-combustible (A1/A2) material immediately around the appliance, use that material there and keep the decorative panels to the surrounding wall. If in doubt, get professional guidance before you start.
Are the panels fireproof?
No. A fire classification measures how a material reacts to fire — it is not the same as being fireproof or non-combustible. Like any decorative wall finish, the panels must not be exposed to direct flame, embers or continuous high heat, and must not be used where a non-combustible material is specifically required.
Can I see the fire test report?
Yes. Our EN 13501-1 classification is backed by independent SGS testing, and we’re happy to provide the fire test documentation on request — useful for builders, specifiers and building control. Just email sales@tritanbp.co.uk.
3Choosing the Right Product
Lightning Ridge™ vs Stick‑A‑Stone™, plus our faux brick and concrete ranges — and where each one belongs.
Do you offer faux brick and concrete panels as well as stone?
Yes. Alongside our faux stone ranges we offer faux brick and faux concrete panels, built with the same lightweight polyurethane construction and DIY-friendly fitting. If you’re not sure which product suits your project, get in touch — we’re happy to help any way we can.
What’s the difference between Lightning Ridge™ and Stick‑A‑Stone™?
Lightning Ridge™ is our flagship large-format panel (120 × 60 cm, ~0.68 m² each) with tongue-and-groove edges, fixed with construction adhesive and optional screws — ideal for larger feature walls and suitable indoors and outdoors. Stick‑A‑Stone™ is a peel-and-stick system (box of 8 smaller panels, ~0.5 m²) designed for quick, mess-free indoor makeovers. Choose Lightning Ridge for scale and exterior use; choose Stick‑A‑Stone for fast interior projects.
Which panels can I use outdoors?
Lightning Ridge™ is suitable for both interior and exterior use when installed correctly on a stable surface. Stick‑A‑Stone™ is for indoor use only — for garden rooms, outdoor living spaces and exterior walls, use Lightning Ridge instead.
Are the panels good for a media wall or TV feature wall?
Yes — media walls and TV feature walls are among the most popular applications. The panels give a real stacked-stone look without the weight and complexity of masonry, and you can mount a TV by fixing through the panel into the wall behind (see the installation section). Lightning Ridge™ is the usual choice for a full media wall.
Can I use them in a kitchen or as a splashback?
Yes — the non-porous polyurethane wipes clean easily, which suits kitchen feature walls and splashback-style areas away from direct heat. Keep panels clear of the hob and any high-heat zone, and follow the fireplace/heat guidance above. For a hob splashback in direct contact with heat or heavy grease, a wipeable non-combustible surface is the better choice directly behind the burners.
Can I use them in a bathroom or wet area?
The material is non-porous and moisture-resistant, so it suits bathrooms where suitable. In wet zones, seal the panel perimeter with silicone and make sure the wall behind is sound and moisture-appropriate; for continuous-splash areas, test a small area first. If you’re planning a shower or full wet room, contact us to talk through the detailing before ordering.
Are the panels suitable for commercial projects?
Yes. The B-s1, d0 classification to EN 13501-1 makes them a practical decorative lining for many commercial interiors such as bars, restaurants, hotels, receptions and retail. As always, confirm the required classification for your specific space with your fire engineer or building control, and request our test documentation for your records.
4Measuring & Ordering
Work out exactly how much you need — or send us your wall size and we’ll do it for you, free.
How many Lightning Ridge™ panels do I need?
Multiply your wall width by its height to get the area in square metres, then divide by 0.68. Worked example: a 3 m × 2.4 m wall is 7.2 m²; 7.2 ÷ 0.68 = 10.6, so order 11–12 panels to allow for cuts and waste. Deduct large openings, but keep a little extra for offcuts and future touch-ups.
How many Stick‑A‑Stone™ boxes do I need?
Each box covers approximately 0.5 m², so divide your wall area by 0.5. Worked example: the same 7.2 m² wall is 7.2 ÷ 0.5 = 15 boxes; order 16–17 boxes to cover cuts and waste. As with any hand-finished product, buy enough to finish the project in one go so all your material is from the same run.
How much extra should I order for waste?
Rounding up to allow roughly 10–15% extra is sensible for cuts around corners, sockets and openings, plus a spare panel for future touch-ups. Ordering enough to complete the wall in one go also keeps colour consistent, since pigments can vary slightly between production batches.
Can I order a sample first?
Yes, and we recommend it. Samples start from £5.99 and let you see the true colour, texture and stone depth in your own lighting before ordering full panels. Browse the samples collection to order.
Can you work out how many panels I need for me?
Absolutely — it’s free. Send us your wall measurements (and a photo if you like) by phone on 01274 051363, text on 07441 920001, or email sales@tritanbp.co.uk, and we’ll calculate the quantity and recommend accessories.
5Installation
No mortar, no grout, no specialist trades — here’s how the fitting works.
What surfaces can I install onto?
Any clean, dry, flat and stable surface works — plasterboard, plywood, cement board, concrete block (use appropriate masonry fixings), brick, or over existing tiles if they’re clean and sound. Don’t fix directly onto open studs without a backing board, and use timber battens to true up irregular walls. See our full panel installation guide.
What adhesive should I use?
Use a quality construction/grab adhesive that’s compatible with polyurethane (a PL Premium-type product, for example). Avoid any adhesive that isn’t rated for polyurethane foam, as it may not bond correctly. On Lightning Ridge™, a bead around the edges plus dabs across the back gives good coverage.
Do I need screws as well as adhesive?
Adhesive does most of the work, but a few screws add belt-and-braces security, especially on larger walls or exterior projects. Use coarse-thread screws indoors, and exterior-grade or corrosion-resistant screws outdoors to prevent rust staining. Countersink and touch up the heads for an invisible finish.
How do I cut the panels?
The panels cut cleanly with standard hand or power saws — a handsaw, circular saw or jigsaw all work well. Mark and cut on the flat back face, protecting the textured front. Wear eye protection and a dust mask, and cut slowly for the neatest edge.
How do I hide the joints and seams?
Lightning Ridge™ has tongue-and-groove edges that interlock so each panel overlaps the next and the seams effectively disappear. Blend panels from several boxes as you go, and use a colour-matched Touch Up Kit on any cut edges or fixings for a seamless finish.
How do I finish corners and edges neatly?
Use our matching accessories: the Universal Outside Corner (case of 4) wraps external corners cleanly, and the Universal Faux Stone Ledge Trim (4 pack) finishes top edges and ledges. You can also mitre panel edges — apply adhesive to both cut faces and press together for a strong bond.
How does the Stick‑A‑Stone™ starter strip work?
The Stick‑A‑Stone™ Starter Strip (box of 2) sets a perfectly level base for your first row and creates the staggered look, so every row above lines up correctly. Fix it level along the bottom of the wall, then peel, stick and press each panel from the bottom row upwards. See the Stick‑A‑Stone installation guide.
How do I cut around sockets and switches?
Mark the opening on the back of the panel and cut it out with a jigsaw or rotary tool before fixing the panel in place. Always isolate the power and follow electrical safety guidance; if in doubt, have a qualified electrician handle any wiring or socket relocation.
Can I hang a TV or pictures on a panelled wall?
Yes. Drill through the panel into the backing wall and use appropriate fixings or anchors for the wall type — the load is carried by the wall behind, not the panel. This is exactly how media walls are built, so mounting a TV or shelving is a common, well-proven application.
Is this a realistic DIY job?
For most people, yes. No mortar, grout or specialist masonry skills are needed — just a tape measure, level, saw, adhesive and a few screws. Many customers complete a high-impact feature wall in a single day. Take time to get the first row dead level, as everything above follows it.
6Delivery & Returns
Fast dispatch across mainland UK, with VAT included in every retail price.
Do you offer free UK delivery?
Yes — we offer free mainland UK delivery on qualifying panel orders. Because the panels are lightweight, they ship by standard courier rather than freight pallet, so they arrive like any normal parcel and are less prone to transit damage than dense clay or stone.
How quickly do orders dispatch?
Most of our range is quickship — in-stock items dispatch the same day when ordered by 12pm on a business day, and the next business day after that cut-off or at weekends and on bank holidays. Some products and colours are special order with a longer lead time; where that applies it’s noted on the product page, or contact us before ordering and we’ll confirm the lead time — we’re happy to help any way we can.
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. All retail prices shown on the website include VAT.
What should I do if my delivery arrives damaged?
Please check your order on arrival and contact us as soon as possible if anything is damaged — keep the packaging and take a few photos, which helps us put it right quickly. Email sales@tritanbp.co.uk or call 01274 051363 and we’ll sort a resolution.
What is your returns policy?
Full details of returns are set out in our terms and conditions. If you’re unsure whether a product is right for your project, order a sample first or contact us before buying — we’re happy to advise.
7Aftercare
Keeping the finish looking new, indoors and out.
How do I clean the panels?
They’re virtually maintenance-free. Most of the time a light dust is all that’s needed; for anything more, use warm water with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, wire brushes and harsh solvents, which can dull the finish. Outdoors, a rinse with a garden hose keeps them looking fresh.
How do I repair a scuff or fix a cut edge?
A colour-matched Touch Up Kit blends in cut edges, screw heads and minor marks. Each kit includes the colours, a detailing brush and a wiping rag so you can feather the finish to match the surrounding stone.
Will the panels fade outdoors, and how do I maintain them?
The pigments include UV inhibitors, but as with any finish some gradual fading can occur outdoors depending on sun exposure. To keep colour at its best, apply a light UV topcoat every few years on exposed exterior installations — test a small area first for compatibility.
Do the panels need sealing?
No routine sealing is required — the polyurethane is non-porous. In wet areas, seal the panel perimeter with silicone at installation, and outdoors an occasional UV topcoat helps preserve colour, but there’s no ongoing sealing regime like natural stone.
8Trade & Commercial
For installers, builders, merchants, designers and commercial specifiers.
Do you offer trade and stockist accounts?
Yes. Trade and stockist accounts are available with dedicated support for installers, builders, merchants and designers. To discuss an account, get in touch via our Become a Tritan BP Distributor page and our team will be glad to help.
Are the panels suitable for commercial fire requirements?
Our Lightning Ridge™ and Stick‑A‑Stone™ panels carry a B-s1, d0 classification to EN 13501-1 — a strong reaction-to-fire performance that suits many commercial internal wall linings. Requirements vary by building type and use, and fire performance varies by product line, so confirm the classification needed for your project with your fire engineer or building control and ask us for the test documentation for the specific product you’re specifying.
Can you support larger or repeat commercial orders?
Yes — we work with commercial customers on projects of all sizes and can help with product recommendations, quantities and specification support. Contact the team via the distributor enquiry page or email sales@tritanbp.co.uk to discuss your project.
Is the product covered by a warranty?
Yes — our panels are covered by a limited warranty against confirmed manufacturing defects. Full terms and coverage are on our warranty page.
